Importance of writing tests
You spend a lot of time in preparing for exams right from the word 'go'. All your efforts are oriented towards becoming successful in the exams. Try to do a small comparison with your level of preparation at your class XII as against your preparation for professional course. You will find the major gap is in testing your preparedness. To fill this gap you need to write tests. This will help in the following ways:
i) Solid preparation-covering all areas in a subject
ii) Remove your fear for exam
iii) Build up confidence level-this is the key for doing well in the exam
iv) Test your memory
v) Effective hand/mind coordination
vi) Writing a full paper ie for 100 marks and for 3 hours.
vii) Presentation. Only through constant practice you will get a good presentation.
viii) Understanding the question well and answering what is asked for.
ix) While hard work, perseverance and sound preparation may not guarantee success but not doing any of these will guarantee failure.
I am trying to put things in a perspective. There is nothing to be worried about exams. It is all about worrying about your level of preparedness for the exam.
Further few points to the students:
i) Never take a test lightly.
ii) Give your best shot and assume it to be a main exam
iii) Do not get too much worried or carried away by the marks in the tests. The marks scored in the test will give you a broad understanding of your preparedness.
iv) Do not fear and think that if you score low in your tests you have to cut a sorry figure. Please remember this is a practice only and when the main exam comes you will reap the benefit of writing tests. You would better not cut a sorry figure when you get your main exam marks.
v) Past performance in school/college exams should give you confidence but you should not attach too much significance to that and you should not assume that the same trend will continue in professional exams too.
vi) Never get personal about your marks in the tests. As I told, these are only for your good.
We all are working towards bringing success in your exam. I need your cooperation in ensuring your positive results in your exams.

Tips for preparation
I would like to give you certain tips for effective preparation:
i) Use early morning time for preparation effectively. Your mind is free and absorbing during this time. Use this time to read subjects where u have to memorise more. Ex: Infotech, Law
ii) Slot your preparation into time capsules. Ensure that you do not spend more than 3 hours at a stretch.
iii) Take good breaks of atleast 1 hour in between
iv) Rotate preparation of subject. Do not read the same subject day long
v) Ensure that you cover all subjects in a day. In this process you are in touch with the subject on an ongoing basis and this will also give u the variety and will make the study process interesting.
vi) Combine your preparation with a proper mix of text book, guideline or suggested answers, notes etc. Do not use the same material for long hours
vii) Have good sleep. Do not fight against your sleep. Please remember that if you do not sleep for long hours today you will compensate it by sleeping extra hours the next day. Hence arithmetically your preparation time does not increase.
viii) Plan your preparation time in such a way that you spend atleast 4 to 6 hours minimum on a daily basis now and atleast for 10 to 12 hours a day during exam holidays.
ix) Use Bare acts as appropriate and consciously try to remember sections
x) You can now focus in going through case laws as when exams are nearing you may not find time for this
xi) Work out as many problems as possible in draft form. Do not spend too much time in formatting your solutions now. That will be required only in exams.
x) Do not hesitate to write tests. Remember main exam becomes a smooth affair if you write tests. In our Coaching Centre we use test as a process to give practice to students and to provide suggestions/guidance and hence you all should grab this opportunity.
